It was less than a week ago that Google pushed out the Android 4.4.1 update to Nexus devices and here is yet another iterative update that pushed the Android version number on your Nexus device to Android 4.4.2. This update is so light that it weighs only 1.69 MB and is available for all Nexus devices including Nexus 7 2012 that will jump directly from Android 4.4 to Android 4.4.2.
The update carries a build number KOT49H and should be available on your devices Over The Air (OTA). This update includes a fix for clearing and delivery of the VM indicator, various additional software fixes, and security enhancements. The security enhancement is probably a fix for the SMS hack that can shut down a Nexus device just by an SMS. At a size of 1.69 MB we can not expect much from the update though.
If you haven’t received the update yet, you can go to Settings>About phone and check for the update. If you still don’t seem to get it, you can download the OTA zip file to your computer and sideload it to your Nexus device via the command adb sideload [name of file].zip when you are in the recovery mode and after you select the option “Apply update from ADB” That said, you can find the download links below depending on which version of Android your device is currently running.
