Android 4.4 Ported From Nexus 5 To Nexus 4 Already

Sure Google will be pushing out Android 4.4 OTAs to the Nexus devices and Google Editions of HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4 but the developers are quite eager to see Android 4.4 working on the Nexus 4 and one among them has ported the Nexus 5 factory image to Nexus 4. It has not been even 24 hours since Google announced Nexus 5 and Nexus 4 users are rejoicing a fine Android 4.4 port on their device.

Here are some screenshots of Android 4,4 on the Nexus 4:

This port is only for the mako build of Nexus 4. You need to have root on your Nexus 4 and the latest CWM recovery. You can use ROM Manager to check that.

Disclaimer: Hack My Android is not responsible for any damage your device might incur during this process. Proceed at your own risk.

Make a nandroid backup from CWM or use OBackup to create it without booting into recovery mode. Make sure you check out our data backup guide before you proceed.

You can download the ROM from the original thread on XDA forums and flash it via CWM to get Android 4.4 on your device. Make sure you wipe data, cache and dalvik cache before you flash it. After the ROM boots, please install Super User v1.65.

You can now restore apps+data, SMS and call logs using Nandroid Manager.
