Asus came out with their Zenfone lineup in 2014, essentially being a mid-range set of smartphones. The Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe (ZS550KL) was released in late 2016. The device is notable for it’s all metal body and “invisible” antennas.
Asus has released a new software update (version number 22.214.171.124) for this device. This update brings a few improvements and new features to the device. The update introduces a new Pure Mode while earphones are connected. This feature is available in the device’s Audio Wizard. A new tutorial for the NFC function was added and last but not the least, the update improves the stability of the touch performance of the device. Unfortunately, the update is still based on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow and is for the cheaper Zenfone 3 Deluxe ZS550KL. Asus is likely to release the Android 7.0 Nougat updates for the Zenfone series and hopefully they’ll do so by the end of Q1.
The update is being delivered over-the-air and users will get a notification asking them to download and install it. If you haven’t received the notification yet, do not worry as Asus is rolling out the update in a staged format. To force-check the update go to Settings, About, System Update. Users should receive the update within a few days time. Furthermore, users ought to download the update over a stable WiFi connection.
