It has been a few days that the CyanogenMod team rolled out the CyanogenMod M1 for Nexus devices and also announced that nightly versions of CyanogenMod 11 Android 4.4 for other devices will follow soon. As of now, CM 11 nightly builds for 7 Sony devices is available and can be flashed right away via the recovery mode. Since these are nightly versions of CM 11, you can not expect them to be fully stable, minor bugs should vanish as and when the ROM is updated.

Since you will be flashing a custom ROM, it is recommended that you wipe data via CWM. Since you would not like to lose data on your device already, you can refer our data backup guide. You can use the OBackup app to take a Nandroid backup without booting into recovery mode and use the Nandroid Manager app to restore data of individual apps, call logs and text messages.
Steps to Flash
You do need a rooted device with CWM installed. For most devices listed above, the ROM Manager app must work and is perhaps the easiest way to flash CWM to your device. Once you have root and CWM, you can download the ROM zip file from the links given above and place them in your device’s storage. Boot into CWM and wipe data, cache and dalvik cache (from the Advanced menu). Up next, select “Install zip from SD card”>”Choose zip from SD card” and select the ROM zip file to flash it. You can flash the Gapps zip file in similar fashion. When you are done, go back and select “Reboot system now”.
Your device should boot into CyanogenMod 11 Android 4.4. This way, you can enjoy all the stock Android 4.4 features of Android 4.4 without waiting for an official update from your OEM.
