While Google has posted the factory image of Android 4.4 KitKat that runs only on the Nexus 5 as of now, there are some apps that have been extracted from this image and can be installed on your Android device right now. The first one that we’re posting is the new Google Experience Launcher that comes with the Nexus 5 and can be installed on any Android phone that runs on Android 4.1+ of course.
You need to install the following APKs on your device:
You need to install Google Play Services 4.0 first and then the other two files. For Google Search force close, you need to do this:
Long press the home screen, select Settings. Select Voice. Select Language to change the default. Change to another language, I choose English – UK. Hit Home. Do a Google Search. Repeat the first three steps. Change back to English – US.
Update: The above trick does not fix force close issue. Download this zip, extract the library file and move it to /system/lib. This is possible only if you can mount /system as r/w which means you require root access. After this, you need to re-install PreBuiltGmsCore APK. Thanks Suyash.
