I’ve tried almost all social apps on Android particularly those that let you manage all your social accounts under one hood. A new player has popped in and it’s called Socialife. After a few hours of testing, I think it’s amazing for people who wish to view their Facebook News Feed, Twitter Timeline, YouTube feed and Google Reader feed (I don’t know how long will that last) – all in a single app.
Socialife is a Social News Magazine app designed for Sony Xperia™ Smartphones and Tablets. Once installed, you need to sign in with a Facebook or Sony Entertainment Network account. You can later add your Twitter, YouTube and Google Reader accounts as well. Interestingly, it doesn’t use Android’s built-in Google sign in feature to add the Google Reader account, instead it pops up the permissions box in the browser.
As already mentioned, the app is available for select Sony Xperia smartphones and tablets on the Play Store which include:
- Sony Smartphone Xperia™ Z
- Sony Xperia™ Tablet Z
- Sony Xperia™ Tablet S
- Sony Tablet S
- Sony Tablet P (Except USA model)
However, erorcun on XDA forums has modded the APK file and made it available for all Android devices running Ice Cream Sandwich or Jelly Bean. You may argue that a small change in build.prop would let you download the app from Play Store but would you root your phone for that?
The app doesn’t need to be a system app, so you can download the app from the link below and install it on your device right away. I did face sign in issues initially that disappeared after two tries.
