A Big Leap

Google in past few years has grown up to something really bigger than what it used to be. Competing with some tough enough standards it is currently promising to become the leading brand in terms of mobile computing. Talking of mobile computing , Google shook the whole scenario by launching the android platform. It has been working day and night in order to deliver to users, the ultimate mobile experience. With the introduction of the play store, it became possible for a user to get access all of his ebooks, applications, games, music and updates on the go in a much feasible way.

Recently google turned its attention towards the growing popularity of cloud computing and launched its own cloud, the Google Drive. But it won’t be easy for even a giant like google to take a head-on collision with the titans of this territory, running miles ahead , are apple and microsoft with their state-of-the-art cloud technologies.

Therefore, google has planned to to skimp through this reign and make a leap , it launched various cloud dependent servies at this year’s google event. With the ipads being the highest selling slates in the world and the amazon kindle fire catching up, google is going to give them a run for their money. So, following the google way , with the launch of evry update of the android platform they deliver an android phone for the cause, after months and months of hide ‘n’ seek, its finally here. But wait, its not a phone this time.

Google Nexus 7

Nexus 7 – First Tablet from Google

The Google nexus 7 , first tablet produced by the search giant under its very own home brand along with some heavy duty cloud support. With the dimensions counting in at 198.5 x 120 x 10.5 mm (weighing in at 340grams) and possessing a thicker bezel sits a 7″ IPS display with the pixels counting at 1280×800  delivering an acceptable ppi that’s enough to meet n greet the human eye with all the eye candy expected from the android platform.

Specifications & Key Features

With an “affordable” price tag of $199 & $249 (yes, u heard that right, for the 8gb and 16gb variants respectively) this 7-inch slate boasts some quite capable hardware artillery. With 4 cpu cores running at 1.3ghz and a 12-core nvidia gpu on the nvidia tegra-3 chipset (which has been quoted as “ultra-low voltage”) this lil’ thing is ready to make full use of almost 99% of the applications that the play store hosts( And yes, the quad cores are making their debut on a 7″ slate) . Talking about the multitasking capabilities, the nexus 7 tab does the job quite easily with 1gb of ram and runs on the latest android realease. Yes, that’s Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

Furthermore, the features list of this amazing gadget concludes with Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth and NFC connectivity and Google Wallet and a 1.2 megapixel snapper upfront that may disappoint with the pixel count but delivers back with it satisfactory 720p video recording plus its always there for all your video chatting and conferencing needs.( Never mind the fact that it looks an ipad inspired location for the camera)

Variants Of Google Nexus 7

The Google Nexus 7 will be available in two variants, the 8 GB one and a 16 GB one (sorry, but no expandability options here), not so surprisingly, there is no 3G variant on the table courtesy the impressive price tag that’s aggressive enough to beat the competition straight out of water.

There is no quote about the exact capacity of battery but it promises a really long video playback.

My Verdict

All-in-all this is the first tablet coming under the “Nexus” branding from Google. A must have for the collectors and a wise purchase considering the “google original” tag, what that means? Some heavy developer support, and the raw android experience….and plus what it delivers is some great value for money that will attract the potential buyers.
