Install CyanogenMod 10 Jelly Bean on Samsung Galaxy Mini

Samsung Galaxy Mini is yet another low end device after Motorola Droid to get a Jelly bean custom ROM. In this post we will tell you how to install Jelly Bean ROM on Samsung Galaxy Mini. This ROM is based on CyanogenMod 10 sources and is compiled by killar_aka_arabuan XDA- Forum member. This is a custom ROM and may contain some bugs, however the ROM would be updated with time and you can download the latest version of the ROM from the thread at XDA, the link to which is present in the Installation Instructions.

You may have to delete a few system apps to get your device running smoother. Which apps would be removed? Check the Installation instructions.

CM10 Jelly bean for galaxy Mini

Since this is a custom ROM, you are advised to wipe all data on your phone to prevent low memory issues and force closes. But before you do that, make sure you backup all data and restore it later after you have installed CM10 Jelly Bean on your Galaxy Mini.

  1. Back up all apps using ASTRO File Manager. You can get the APK files using ASTRO and later restore it. Rooted users can use Titanium Backup which also backs up data along with the apps.
  2. Back up all contacts to SD card.
  3. Backup SMS on Android.
  4. Backup call log on Android.
  5. Have minimum 60% charge on your phone else you might get stuck while the update process is running on your device.
  6. Remove any security or Anti-virus app if you have them installed.
  7. Enable USB Debugging. This can be don by Settings>Applications>Development and making sure that USB Debugging is checked.
