Though the first ever intel based Android smartphone may not have been able to fetch much of success to the firm, Lava looks in no mood to face a setback as it seems it has decided to move on with the same partnership. This time round, the focus is on the lower price bracket where the majority of potential buyers resides in India! Although Lava may not be a big name over the subcontinent, but the thing that’s inside, has got the potential to take it to the next level.
The Lava XOLO X500 hosts Intel’s Atom Z2420 processor known as “Lexington” which was made keeping the lower end of the budget in mind. This handsome chipset has got the CPU clocked at a zippy 1.2Ghz of clockspeed while there is the inclusion of Intel’s HyperThreading technology which virtually doubles the number of total number of active processing cores. The RAM ticks at 512Megabytes while the 4Gigabytes of internal storage promises Android 4.0+ support while the rest of the specs remain as sturdy as they could fit in for a price bracket of ₹8,999 (~$170) at launch including the HVGA 3.5” display and the 1500mAh battery which looks juicy enough to feast one of the most battery friendly processors in the mobile industry.
With the price tag showing a bit of aggression, although the interiors are promising enough to bash up all the competition, there are some big time bestsellers and potential bestsellers in this segment like the lives of HTC Explorer, Sony Xperia Tipo and the Samsung Galaxy Y Duos. Also, the biggest of threats might just be some competition from the home turf, that is the almighty Micromax A110 Superfone Canvas 2! If that thing can blow up the most popular lists of a few of the most frequently visited mobile blogs, the Lexington running dude should be beware of the territory it is trying to step in!
