When a new Android OS update is announced, we all have the same thing in mind: “When will my device get it?” It might take a few hours to a few months till it hits your devices, considering the manufacturer decides to support it.
According to Australian Carrier Optus, the newest version of Android, Nougat for LG G5 is currently undergoing testing and is expected to hit devices via an OTA update around mid-November. Given that the announcement is for the carrier-branded variant, we can safely assume the unlocked variants will start getting the update a bit early on.
Considering the official release of Android Nougat (7.0) was just two months ago (August 2016), LG has set a good track record of keeping their flagship devices up to date, with the LG V20 shipping with Nougat and LG G5 currently undergoing testing.
LG G5 owners can check for official OTA (over-the-air) updates manually from the Settings menu.
Android Nougat (7.0) brings a slew of improvements, including a redesigned Notification bar, multi-window support, Quick Reply, improved battery performance, Vulkan API support which boosts gaming performance for supported games and much more.
