Sony Introduces Xperia SP and Xperia L Smartphones

After the Xperia Z and Xperia ZL, Sony has introduced two more players in its 2013 lineup – the Sony Xperia SP and Sony Xperia L. None of the specifications or pictures were leaked earlier and this comes as a surprise.

The Sony Xperia SP is a smartphone that fall between the Xperia S and Xperia P. This means that the smartphone is better than the Xperia P but not better than the Xperia S. Xperia SP is a mid-range smartphone.

Sony Xperia SP Specifications

The Sony Xperia SP features a 4.6 inches HD screen (720p resolution). It runs on 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8960 processor and 1 GB of RAM. It is powered with a 2,370mAh battery.

The 8 MP rear camera is capable of recording 1080p videos while the front camera is a VGA one. The phone also features a dedicated camera button with quick launch mode – you can launch the camera app while the phone is locked by long-pressing the camera button. Apart from this, the device comes with 8 GB inbuilt storage and an SD card slot. Nevertheless, the phone will run Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean out of the box. It also comes with LTE and NFC connectivity.

Sony Xperia L Specifications

The Xperia L is more of a camera enhanced phone. It comes with a 8-megapixel Exmor RS rear camera with Exmor RS sensor that is capable of recording both HDR photos and videos. This feature is not found in mid-range phones but the Xperia L does features this type of camera which is capable of capturing high resolution images in low light.

The Xperia L has a 4.3 inches display with a resolution of 854 x 480 pixels and runs on a 1GHz Snapdragon S4 Play dual-core processor. Dual core processors are better for multi-tasking. 1GB of RAM, 8 MP rear camera with 720p video recording and a front facing VGA camera is what the Xperia L has to offer. On the memory part, it comes with 8 GB inbuilt memory and 32 GB expandable card slot.
