Sony has launched the Sony ‘my Xperia’ service which’ll help you track your device in case you’ve lost it. Going by the the concepts like Apple’s Find My Iphone and HTC’s Hub services, Sony has launched the my Xperia service for it’s droid army that is the Xperia line up of Android Smartphones from Sony. Apart from bringing some peace of mind to the owners of the devices, the better thing about this service is that it also ensures the safety of private data
Let us have a look at how does it works in action as quoted by Marcin Zielinski, Sony Experience Planner and a member of the App’s development team.
It’s really simple – you activate the app in your phone’s settings and use Google ID to sign in to myxperia.sonymobile.com to access the central interface.
From here, you’ll be able to control a number of remote functions –
- Locate your smartphone on a map.
- Sound an alert to get someone’s attention – it’ll also override silent mode and wake the display(smart. Isn’t it?).
- Lock the phone to keep info private, and ping a message with contact details or…
- Erase both internal and external SD card info / data if required.
If all those words go well, the owners of the Xperia devices are in for a special treat with their privacy even after they’ve lost their cellphone via this amazingly cool bit of software! Further, he has quoted that they have been running phased a launch in the Nordics on select 2012 Xperia smartphones running ICS and they’ll be starting with the smart yet sturdy Xperia Acro S with more devices to follow in the upcoming weeks.
All-in-all while it isn’t that much of an innovation over the current portfolio of Sony’s customer satisfaction services, but still serves as the best amongst them if you consider going by the utility and, YOUR PRIVACY!!
