Sony Xperia J Goes on Sale Today in India, UK, Hong Kong and Russia

Sony Xperia J is a device which was released back in August and was expected to hit the market soon. The time has come and the Xperia J is on sale right now. I had been waiting for this device eagerly when I bought the Sony Xperia U. The Xperia U is obviously a strong competitor of the Xperia J but Xperia J still has some advantages. Let’s see what they are.

Sony Xperia J

The Xperia J comes with a 4 inches screen, bigger than Xperia U. It has a single core Qualcomm processor while the Xperia U has dual core both of which are clocked at a frequency of 1GHz. Though both these devices are powered with Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich, the Xperia J will receive Jelly Bean update in 2013. Sony had already announced that they will push the Jelly Bean update to the 2012 lineup while the 2011 devices remain get no Jelly Bean love.

The Xperia J also comes 854×480 pixel resolution for its 4 inches screen which makes it look pretty well in sunlight and at different viewing angles. A 5MP secondary camera and 0.3MP primary camera are also available. Only 4GB internal storage is available which can be expanded up to 32 GB with the help of a micro SD card slot.

As far as the price is concerned, Sony obviously has the best to offer when compare with Samsung and HTC in the same price range. What do you folks think?

The Xperia J is on sale in the following countries:

  • India: INR 16,490
  • Hong Kong: HK$2,098
  • Russia: 11,000 Rubels
You can buy the device in UK for £170 on a pay-as-you-go contract at O2 or you can get a SIM-free version direct from Sony for just £219.

It will go on sale in the other parts of the world pretty soon! We think Sony is fair on their part considering the low price. What do you think?
