Sony’s 6.4-inch beast can now be updated for its users to experience Android 4.3 – not the official way though. The CyanogenMod community is kind enough to help you with that as nightly builds of CyanogenMod 10.2 are now available for Sony Xperia Z ultra. So if you are one among those geeks who are bored of the same old Xperia interface, this is an AOSP treat for you.
While nightly builds aren’t what you’d wish to use for long, we recommend you to backup all data on your device using our data backup guide. A nandroid backup should be more than what you would need. You can create it using OBackup and restore the backup using Nandroid manager since a CWM data restore will not work out well.
To get started, you can download the latest build of CyanogenMod 10.2 that is codenamed “togari” from the link at the bottom of this post. Also download the latest Google apps package for Android 4.3 from goo.im/gapps. Place both zip file in the device’s storage and boot the device into recovery mode. Wipe data, cache and dalvik cache and then flash the ROM zip file followed by Gapps zip file.
After you reboot the phone, your device should be running CyanogenMod 10.2 Android 4.3 ROM.
