Unofficial Jelly Bean For Sony Xperia U Is Now Fully Stable

Months back, Sony rolled out Jelly Bean for various handsets that included Sony Xperia P and Xperia Go from which, the ROM was ported to Xperia U. Unfortunately, it had bugs like front camera not working, LED Bar issues and RAM Management issues. With some good luck, all of these issues have been solved and we now have a fully working Jelly Bean ROM for Sony Xperia U.

DevSwift1, an XDA-forum member and the same person who compiled the AOSP Jelly Bean ROM for Xperia U and some other ROMs has ported Sony’s stock Jelly Bean to Xperia U. This is based on the Xperia P system (the base ROM). pipi14, another XDA forum member has also ported the same ROM but the bloatware differs in bothROMs. I am currently using DevSwift1‘s ROM and I find it pretty smooth – much better than Sony’s stock ICS which has been a complete sh*t to me!

Please note that this ROM would work only on unlocked bootloaders. In case you don’t have it unlocked, you can read how to unlock and root the device.

It is also recommended that you flash stock ICS on your Xperia U and boot the device once with ICS running and then flash CWM. After you get CWM, you can place the downloaded zip in your device’s internal memory and flash the ROM via CWM. Make sure you wipe data, cache and dalvik cache before you flash the ROM.

You can download DevSwift1‘s ROM from this thread or pipi14‘s ROM from this thread. After you have installed the ROM, make sure you follow the steps given here to fix the Illumination bar bug and make it work as it did in ICS, thanks to NoobCoder.
