The LG Optimus G has been recently seeding some success to the Korean manufacturer and a result of that, the OEM has already gifted it’s lad with the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update. But as it’s closest sibling, the Google Nexus 4 has been going post the shipment yards with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean straight out of the box, how can the owners so do the developers of the Optimus G keep quiet! We’ve already posted the tutorial to get the CM10.1 Android 4.2 Jelly Bean ROM working on the Canadian version of the device, but this time the users of the international version of the LG Optimus G look to be in for a treat.
Before you proceed with the installation, we recommend you to backup all data on your phone. To make backups easily, you can read our complete backup guide. If you do not have device drivers installed, you can download them here. We are not responsible for any damage your device might face with this guide – the chances in this case are very less though.
How to Install CM10.1 Android 4.2 Jelly Bean ROM On Your LG Optimus G
You can start by downloading the firmware.zip file from here and till then, you can connect your Phone to the system via the bundled USB Cable so that you can copy the downloaded flashable zip file to the root of your sdcard which is the /sdcard/ folder. Now, disconnect your phone from the computer and then turn it off, re-insert the batteries and boot it into the Recovery mode. Before you proceed, please make a check whether you have made a nandroid backup in the recovery mode so that you can revert back to your previous ROM in future, if you wish to. Now wipe all previous data/Do a factory reset including dalvik cache in order to avoid “Low memory” issues and then select the option to apply an update zip, and select the zip file you copied to the root folder of your sd card and flash the zip file you downloaded above. Now Flash the Gapps file in a similar fashion. If you’re done with that, go back and select “Reboot system now”.
Please make a note that this boot up make take a bit longer than usual and hence be a little patient. If your phone booted up properly, let it get stable for a minute or two and hey! you’re home! Further, you can head to the original thread for more on this ROM.
