WhatsApp took their own sweet time to roll out GIF support. At first, a popular alternative was to convert GIFs to MP4 video files and then distribute them. As time passed, GIF support was natively implemented and everyone could now convey their (sometimes annoying) feelings using their favorite GIFs. The real challenge was to find the perfect GIF for the perfect time. WhatsApp has finally rolled out GIPHY support in their latest beta release along with another much needed feature.
Gone are the days of searching for a GIF, saving it, and then sending it through WhatsApp. The feature can be accessed by tapping the emoji button. The GIPHY Integration allows us to pick the most popular/trending GIFs or you can choose your own by using the search functionality.
Another awesome change is the increase in the maximum limit of pictures that can be selected. Earlier, it was limited to 10 pictures at a given time. Now, the maximum seems to be 30 pictures. This is very useful if you were limited by the earlier limit and can make notes-sharing among students a whole lot easier.
If you want to try out these features, you will need v2.17.6 beta, which you can download by signing up for the beta program on the Play Store or directly downloading the APK from APKMirror and sideloading it.
